Joseph Andrew Booth, 78, St. Clair, departed this life at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, Wednesday, July 6, 2011.

Mr. Booth was born in St. Louis Feb. 4, 1933, the son of Joseph Andrew Booth and wife Luella Gertrude, nee Overturf.

On March 10, 1953, he was united in marriage to Alpha Rosetta Elder and two daughters came to bless this union.

He is survived by his wife, Alpha Booth, St. Clair; his Chihuahua, Gordo; his daughters, Jackie Sutt and husband Jerry and Pam Dace and husband Kevin, all of St. Clair; seven grandchildren, Kerry Dilks and husband Aaron, Stephanee Rossi and companion Brian Mehler and Sara Huff, all of St. Clair, Katie Sincox and husband Noah, Union, Sgt. Daniel Huff and wife Michelle, Beaufort, Pfc. Joseph Dace, Fort Lewis, Wash., and Devin Huff and wife Dr. Christina, Pacific; one brother, Glenn Booth, Ellis Grove, Ill.; three sisters, Mary Montroy and husband Armin, Chester, Ill., Alice Sobba and husband Don, Auxvasse, and Luella Jane Rabbitt and husband Raymond, Lebanon, Ill.; six stepgrandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one step-great-great-grandchild; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law; nieces; nephews; great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.

Mr. Booth was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Luella Booth; and one infant brother, John Richard Booth.

He was a devoted Christian and longtime active member of Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church, Pacific. He served the church as a board member and was always there to lend a helping hand in all church activities.

Mr. Booth was a bricklayer by trade and actively worked for 50 years and retired from the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Local 1 of St. Louis.

Since retiring, he enjoyed many hobbies and interests, but especially enjoyed woodworking and going fishing. He was proud to have made rocking horses that he presented to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren on their first birthday and these will now be treasured family heirlooms.

His family was his life and nothing made him happier than the time spent with his children and grandchildren. He loved to tease his grandchildren and tried his best to scare them every chance he got. The love and wonderful memories created will comfort them in the days ahead.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 12, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with the Rev. Cecil Boswell and Bishop T. C. Wilkins officiating.

Interment was in Crestview Memorial Park, St. Clair.

Memorials to Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church Youth Department, Pacific, are preferred.
