Leon Hiott, of Walterboro, departed this July 30, 2011.

Mr. Hiott was born May 26, 1928 in Walterboro and was a son of the late James Hiott and Bessie Mae Youmans Hiott.

Leon served his country in the United States Army Air Corp. He was a member of Jones Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church and attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Walterboro.

Mr. Hiott was known as a "Jack of all Trades". Throughout his life, he pursued many careers that included being a truck driver, an auctioneer, musician and cook. At one time, he owned a cleaning business, a jewelry store, gas station, and alongside his wife owned and operated Vivian's Little General Store in Walterboro.

Surviving are: his wife of 59 years, Vivian Franklin Hiott; children, Ricky Hiott of Kathleen, FL, James Hiott of Lake Havasu, AZ, Linda Hiott of Walterboro, Wendell Hiott of Perry, FL, Timothy Hiott of Walterboro and Bernadine Metheny of Jacksonville, NC; brothers, Olin Hiott and Roy Boyd of Walterboro; sister, Doreen Bell of Walterboro; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Hiott, Jr.; sisters, Betty Zimmerman and Mae Padgett; 1 grandchild; and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held 10 am, August 6, 2011, at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro, with interment following in Doctor's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
