Jack J. Lewis, Sergeant Co. A 359 Infantry US Army. He enlisted at age 21, Sept. 19, 1917 and was discharged from USA Gen Hospital 19, Oteen, N.C. on June 28 1919. He served in the Allied European Forces under the command of Black Jack Pershing and Col. Billy Mitchell. Battles and engagements included the Argonne Forest and Saint Mihiel were he was gassed causing lung complications from which he later died at home south of Farmersville. His name is among the war dead listed on the Freedom Plaza Memorial in down town Farmersville
