Amado was born and raised Pawnee and graduated from the Pawnee High School and attended Bee County College, before enlisting in the Marines 17 February 1970, at a San Antonio Recruiting Office.
Arriving in Vietnam 2 September 1970, Amado was assigned to Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. Amado died as a result of a gunshot wound to body from hostile rifle fire while on a combat patrol in the vicinity of the Hai Van Railroad Bridge and 10 kilometers north of Nam-O Bridge.
He was single and served his country for 1 year, 1 month and 13 days and KIA #54,862.
Amado had been in Vietnam for 6 months and 28 days.
He was 21 years,8 months and 3 days old.
Survived by his parents; Amado and Eleanor Leal Alaniz Sr, a sister; Ema Gloria and a brother; Santiago Alaniz, all of PO Box 643, Pawnee, Texas.

Funeral arrangements were conducted by the Echols Funeral Home of Kennedy, Texas.
