Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. Served in the Civil War as a Private in Company A, 61st New York Volunteer Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at the Battle of Sailors Creek, Virginia on April 6, 1865. His citation states simply "Capture of flag". His Medal was awarded to him on May 10, 1865.
