Raymond Cloyd Graf, age 90, passed away March 28, 2011 in Santa Clara, Utah. He was born June 22, 1920 in Santa Clara, Utah to Carl Albert and Hermina Tobler Graf.
Ray attended school in Santa Clara, Dixie High School and graduated from Dixie Jr. College. He worked for Lockheed Aircraft in Los Angeles following his graduation from college. Ray enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served during WWII as an airplane mechanic. Ray and Eleanor Deane Syphus were married, June 21, 1946 in the St. George LDS Temple. Ray and Deane have lived their entire lives in Santa Clara. Ray served for 35 years as the head gardener for the St. George Temple, beautifying the grounds for the enjoyment of all.
As an active member of the LDS Church he served in many callings and was a St. George Temple ordinance worker for many years. He and Deane served a mission in the Columbia, South Carolina Mission. He was a faithful home teacher until the age of 90.
Ray loved music, especially that of his era. He enjoyed poetry and literature and loved to sing and play the guitar for his brothers, sisters, wife and children. Ray enjoyed gardening and was well known for his flowers and vegetables. He had a great sense of humor and was a big tease. He was honest, genuine, hardworking and led his family by example.
He is survived by his children, Linda Kaye (Ron) Mason of Holladay, UT, Jane (Fred) Morice of Oklahoma City, OK, Laraine (Kevin) Stott of Emmett, ID, Kerry (DeAnne) Graf of Bungarby, Australia; daughter-in-law, Pam Graf of Santa Clara, UT; 17 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Deane Graf; son, Elwood Raymond Graf; brothers, Elmer, Gideon and Sylvan Graf; and sisters, Clara Sorenson, Arvilla Langston, Virginia Reber and Elva Hafen.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 1, 2011, at 11:00 am at the Santa Clara 1st Ward Chapel, 3040 W. Santa Clara Dr., Santa Clara, UT. Friends may call Thursday, March 31, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St., and also Friday, from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services at the Chapel. Interment will take place in the Santa Clara Cemetery
