DANNER, GRACE RUTH
(23 Mar 1916, Sayre Standard, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK):
Amid a joyful throng of young people in quest of pleasure at the ball
given by the management of the Sayre Auditorium last Tuesday night, Grace
Ruth Danner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Danner, was suddenly stricken
with an attack of heart failure and died as she sank to the floor of the
ball room before physicians who were hastily summoned, could reach the
hall.
The attack came during an intermission in the dance, and as Miss Danner
sank to the floor, many who stood near her believed that she had fainted.
While some hurried to the phone to summon a physician, others resorted to
common methods of restoring one from a fainting condition, but without
success. Life had doubtless departed as she sank to the floor, and when
Dr. Speed arrived she was beyond all human assistance. Miss Danner had
just finished a dance and had lifted a cup of water to her lips when she
suddenly dropped the cup and sank to the floor.
The deceased was a young lady who enjoyed the friendship and esteem of all
who knew her. She had been employed as one of the clerks in the Dixie
store up to the time of its closing its business in Sayre two or three
weeks ago, but in this capacity she had formed a wide acquaintance with
many people of this trade territory who will hear of her untimely death
with feelings of genuine sorrow. She was twenty-two years of age. The
funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 10 o'clock this
morning, and the remains were laid at rest in the Doxey-Sayre cemetery.

(23 Mar 1916, Elk City Leader, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
Young Lady Died at Dance in Sayre.
Miss Danner, a well known young lady of Sayre, died there Tuesday evening
after an attack of heart trouble. She lived only a few seconds after
being stricken. She had been in poor health for some time, according to
reports, and her death was not entirely unexpected. She with a number of
other young people was at a home where a dance was being given when
stricken.
