Born near Frederick, he was he son of Berry E. and Nellie (Blessing) Carter.
He lived for several years at Mollers Crossroads, near Charles Town, W. Va., moving to his farm near St. James about 50 years ago. He retired from farming 12 years ago.
He was a member of the Manor Church of the Brethran.
Survivors are: wife, Ida Gertrude (Mills) Carter, daughters, Mrs. Oma L. Swain, halfway, and Mrs. Ida V. Ausherman, Hagerstown; sons, Edward Q., Sharpsburg, John L. and Howard F., Hagerstown; sister, Mrs. Katie Rice, Washington, D. C.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The body was removed to the A. K. Coffman Funeral lome, where services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m., the Rev. Rowland Reichard officiating. Interment will be made in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be met by the family at the funeral home after 7:00 p.m. tomorrow.
