Robert "Bob" Lesley is commonly known as "the last white man killed by Indians in Comanche County", but there is absolutely no evidence to prove it. On the cold, snowy day he was scheduled to appear in court to testify against cattle rustlers, he was shot in the head and left to die.

The Lesleys owned a cotton gin and grist mill at Van Dyke, TX along Duncan Creek.

For unknown reasons, Lesley's descendants changed the spelling of their name to Leslie. This always causes much confusion in genealogical research.
