Lance Corporal Elder, a son of David Wilson Elder & Mary Ellen Johnston, was born in Mara, con. 12, lot 17. in 1892. The Nov. 15, 1917, Orillia Times, reports "Pte. Gordon William Elder, Rathburn, brother of Mr. Wilson Elder, of the Orillia Hardware Co., is reported suffering from shell gas, on Nov. 4, at the 6th Field Ambulance Depot.
