John David was the son of Alfred Wayne McKim and Margaret P. (Taylor). He married Rebecca Musselman on Oct. 8, 1863 in Clarke Co., IA. She was the daughter of John Musselman and (?) O'dell. Several children were born to this union; Lydia May, Martha J/Edith., Margaret, Mary, Charles B., Ida Belle, John Lewis, Jesse Everett, Alice B., Pearl B., and Bertha.

John D. Served in the Civil War. He enrolled in Captain Mason's Company. He later became a farmer.

John is buried with Rebecca and various other family members. His grave site is by City Hall records.

Obituary of 80 year Old Resident

John David McKim, son of Alfred and Margaret McKim, was born in Indiana Feb. 6, 1844 and departed this life October 3, 1924.

He resided with his parents on a farm until the age of 20 years when he was united in marriage to Miss Rebecca Musselman. To this union were born twelve children, six of whom are living; Mrs. Edith Hindman of Shenandoah, IA.; Mrs. Margaret Harrod of Shenandoah, IA.; Pearl J. McKim of Peru, NE.: Mrs. Bertha Evans, Miss Mary McKim, and Jessie E. McKim, of Bedford, all of whom were with their father at the time of his death. Mrs. McKim preceded him in death four years ago.

Mr. McKim has been confined to his bed for the past nine weeks during which time he has been a patient sufferer.

Among other relatives present for the funeral besides the children were his grandchildren, Mrs. Rose Yates of Council Bluffs, IA.; Mrs. Gladys Palmer of Shenandoah, IA.; Clifford Harrod of Shenandoah, IA.; Harry Evans, of Bedford, IA.; and great grandson, Donald Yates of Council Bluffs, IA."
