Mrs. Gladys Marie Hanks of Carroll Springs died Friday afternoon at Henderson County Memorial Hospital at the age of 43. She had been ill for some time. Mrs. Hanks spent most of her life in the Carroll Springs community. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Hassell and Foster Chapel with the Rev. Pink Holcomb officiating. Burial will be in the County Line Cemetery. Surviving are her widower, J.C. Hanks of Carroll Springs; one son, Joe D. Hanks of Carroll Springs; one daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Sue Brewer of Athens; her mother, Mrs. Charles Sanders Sr. of Athens; two brothers, Charles Sanders, Jr. of Athens and Perry Sanders of Dallas; three sisters, Mrs. R.W. Fuller, Mrs. Joe A. Trammell and Mrs. Don Murphree, all of Athens; and five grandchildren. Pallbearers will be R.W. Fuller, Joe Trammell, Leroy McElrath, John S. Staines, Joe Trammell, Jr., and Larry Sheeley.
