Inscription: Mother - Wife of James BeaversElizabeth Steven (or Stevens) was born in Sumter County, Alabama married and James Beavers on December 11, 1837. Elizabeth Beavers was born in 1811 in North Carolina. The known children from this marriage were:

Harry W. Beavers, born in 1843 in Alabama.

Alvois E. Beavers was born in 1844 and became a farmer in that state. He married Susan (Unknown) and they were the parents of three children at the time of the 1870 Alabama Census. The children were Martha A. (1861), James A. (1868) and Saphonia E. Beavers (1869).

Martha A. Beavers was born in 1845.

Sarah E. Beavers, born in 1846, married George W. McElroy and they had one child, Floyd (1869), according to the 1870 Census.

Washington Lafayette Beavers was born in 1847 (See W. L. Beavers family below).

Abner or (Alvins) Beavers was born in 1848.

All six of the children were born in Alabama. The mother of James Beavers may have been Gensy Thorn (or some similar sounding name), based on family tradition. James Beavers taught school in Gaston, Alabama, before the Civil War.

Elizabeth Beavers is buried in the McElroy Cemetery in Cuba, Alabama.
