Thomas was born the son of Herman & Agnus Bacchler Zemler, was born on April 10, 1937 in rural Fulda, the fourth of eleven children. He grew up on a farm west of Fulda and attended St. Gabriel's Catholic School and graduated from Fulda High School in 1955. He worked on the family farm until taking a job with the Minnesota DNR. He traveled extensively throughout the state, helping with designing and maintaining state and public grounds. After working there for 9 years he bought a farm and started milking cows and raising crops. He enlisted in the Minnesota Army National Guard and took his basic and advanced training in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO as a combat engineer. After his training, Tom was based at the Worthington National Guard Unit where he trained in Alaska, Missouri and Minnesota. He continued farming during his enlistment and after his time with the National Guard was finished he met the love of his life, Geraldine Ramert. They were united in marriage on October 19, 1968 at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Fulda. After their marriage they lived on a farm west of Fulda until purchasing a farm east of Fulda where they raised their three children. He worked at St. Gabriel's Church for 16 years as the head of maintenance. Tom passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 73. He was a member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Fulda. Tom belonged to the Fulda American Legion Post 318. He enjoyed farming, being outdoors, but especially loved his grandchildren they were his pride and joy. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Tom & Geri are the parents of Doug (Tammy) Zemler, Chuck (Carolyn) Zemler, & Kaylene (Jason) Zemler-Walker.

Tom's siblings include Ed (Elaine) Zemler, Joan Remiger, Fred (Diane) Zemler, Sr. Rosemary Zemler, Jim (Jini) Zemler, Rita (Dale) Bunkers, Richard (Irene) Zemler, Donald (Marsha) Zemler, Maggie Heath & Barb Bunkers.

Funeral services were held from St. Gabriel's Church on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, Fr. Larry Brixius celebrating.
