Roy E. Beck

The funeral for Roy E. Beck, 364 First St. S.W., who died Aug. 10 at St. John Regional Medical Center, was held Saturday at eh Congregational Church in Winfred with burial in the Winfred Cemetery.

Born March 9, 1908, on a farm south of Winfred, Roy E. Beck was the son of Eugene and Mary Beck. He was graduated from Winfred High School in 1927. He married Frankie Demaray, Dec. 10, 1929, in Winfred. He farmed until 1954 in the Winfred community where he served on the school and township boards and was on the first board of directors of the Sioux Valley Empire Electric Association. He was a member of the congregational church in Winfred. They moved to Huron in 1961 and he was employed by Lawson Plumbing until his retirement.

Survivors include his widow; daughter, Mrs. Dwight (Margie) Gertsen, Watertown; son, Floyd E., Aptos, Calif.; three brothers, Glenn of Clear Lake, Joe of Carmel, Ind., Clyde of Winfred; and six Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Charles.
