BURGESS, JOHN M. --- age 74, of Knoxville, died at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 1988, at the family home. Member of Ocean View Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach, Va. Member of Beaver Ridge Lodge No. 366, F&AM. He was a Shriner.
Survivors: wife, Mrs. Winifred W. Burgess, Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Luann and John Keller, Knoxville; sisters, Mrs. Beulah Leffhew, Thornhill, Mrs. Mae Moore, Mrs. Louisa Brennan, Mrs. Irma Murrell, Mrs. Joyce York, all of Powell; brother, Jim Burgess, Powell; several nices and nephews.
Family and friends will meet at the entrance to Zion Baptist Church Cemetery at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday for a masonic 2 p.m. graveside service and interment. Service will be conducted by Beaver Ridge Lodge No. 366, F&AM. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to Knox County Humane Society Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 9479, Knoxville, Tenn. 37940. Stevens Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
