She was born Michela Longo on December 24, 1904 in Termini Imerese, Sicily, Italy, to Giuseppe Longo and Anna (Mantia) Longo. Her father immigrated in Missouri in 1910 and Margaret, along with her mother and siblings (Angie, Lena and Mike), followed him in 1914. Shortly after, their father died.
She married Gaetano "Thomas" Gregali on April 28, 1924 in St. Louis, they raised five children. The family had a drill making liquor: on June 11, 1930, Margaret's eldest son and third child, Joseph, accidentally turned the still over in himself and died at the age of two.
Margaret was survived by her husband, Thomas Gregali; her daughters, Sophie Theresa Beckham, Anna Caudron and Theresa Marie Tabacchi; a son, Joseph Michael Gregali; her fifteen grandchildren; her mother, Anna Longo; a sister, Lena Gastro; and several nieces and nephews.
