When quite a young man, Mr. Britton studied telegraphy and became proficient in that profession having worked for some years at the C. H. & D. R. R. in this city. Later he accepted a similar position at Spencerville where the greater part of his active life was spent.
Shortly after his marriage to Miss Emma Bailey, which occured on November 20, 1886, he abandoned the railroad and became affiliated with the bank of that city.
For years he ha been a semi-invalid sharing the home of his mother and enjoying the sympathy and care which none but a devoted mother can bestow.
He was a member of the M. E. Church, for years Sunday School Superintendent and a constant student of the bible.
Besides his mother, he leaves a wife, one daughter, Mrs. Zoa Eysenbach and a grandson, John Wendell of Lima, Ohio.
