T.B. Bridges, 68, Resident of Carrier Mills, Dies
Thomas Byrd "Bert" Bridges, 68, lifelong resident of Carrier Mills, died at 10:25 p.m. Monday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Cletus Robinson, at 301 Washington street, Carrier Mills.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy , in the family house at 207 East Washington street, Carrier Mills, and children as fallows: Mrs. Theodore (Aline) Dowdy, Harrisburg, Mrs. Cletus (Nola) Robinson in whose home he died, Thomas "Bernie: Bridges, N. Hollywood, Calif. B. A. "Shorty" Bridges, Taylorville; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Mrs. Nellie Smith of Metropolis.
Mr. Bridges was a retired miner having last worked at Wasson mine 2 in 1942 and was later employed at the Elgin State hospital where he retired in 1956.
The body will lie in state at the Thornton funeral home in Carrier Mills where funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Otto Brown of the Carrier Mills Baptist church will officiate and burial will be in the Salem Cemetery.
