HOLIDAY, Fla. -- The Rev. Daphne E. Brann, 110, of Spanish Trail Holiday,
formerly of Cumberland, Md., died March 10, 2001, at Community Hospital, New
Port Richey, Fla.
Born on Aug. 4, 1890, in Oldtown, Md., she was the daughter of the late
Horace R. Twigg and Lourenna (Middleton) Twigg. She was also preceded in
death by her husband, the Rev. Oliver P. Brann on Aug. 2, 1951; and one son,
the Rev. O. Kenneth Brann, Elizabethtown, Ky.
The Rev. Brann was the oldest living ordained Assemblies of God Minister,
moving to Florida from Somerset, Pa., in 1985. She was the oldest living
citizen of Pasco County. She visited the Holy Land when she was 104. She
attended the First Assembly of God Church, Holiday, and was a charter member
of the Central Assembly of God Church in Cumberland. She and her husband
founded the Westernport Assembly of God Church and she received a phone call
in January 2001 from Florida Governor Bush congratulating her on her life
spanning three centuries. She was the oldest living graduate of Allegany
High School and was a member of the Class of 1909.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are two daughters, L. Marguerite Calabrese, Holiday, and Naomi B.
Helsel, New Port Richey; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four
great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St.,
Cumberland, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Central Assembly of God Church on
Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Howe officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the church after 10 a.m. on Friday.
