Mrs Oscar Everett
Jennie Laura Overturf was born in Davis county (sic), Iowa, December 20, 1876. When she was but a small child she came to Clay county (sic) Nebraska, with her parents, Mr and Mrs Nathan Overturf. Jennie L. Overturf was converted and baptized at the age of 16 pursuant to which she united with the Methodist Episcopal church. She was united in marriage with Oscar J. Everett, September 21, 1898. There were born to this union two sons; Lester O. and Laurel F. and two daughters, Mrs Helen Stradley and Miss Margaret. Edgar is the postoffice address of parents and children.

Mrs Everett had been in poor heath for about five years. Her husband, the children, other relatives and friends did for her all they could, yet her ailment become more serious, distressing and painful until the summons came on Tuesday evening, September 19, 1933, at the age of 56 years, 8 months and 19 days, just two days before she with her bereaved husband might have celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary.

Mrs Jennie Everett was a wonderful mother. She dearly loved her family and sacrificially did for them all she could. She loved the church and when physically able she attended services.

The bereaved ones are the husband and the children named above, three grand children, a mother, Mrs Margaret Overturf of Ong, two brothers, Allen Overturf of Grand Island and Bert Overturf of Sutton, three sisters, Mrs Maud Alkire of Overton, Mrs Pearl Jordan of Ong and Mrs Alma Broderick of Omaha. Besides these she leaves several other relatives and many friends who feel the loss of a dear one.

The funeral services, in charge of her pastor J. M. Herrmann, were held first in the home followed by services in the M. E. church (sic) in Ong on Friday afternoon, September 22.

Messages in song were brought by the quartet, Miss Elenora Hokom, Miss Norma Bjork, Dean Wight and Paul Anderson, accompanied by Mrs R. McCloughan. Hymns chosen by the bereaved ones and sung were, "Lead Kindly Light," "Will the Circle Be Broken" and "Where We'll Never Grow Old."

The remains were laid to rest in the Ong cemetery.
