According to the Cleveland Herald, Wednesday, Sep 11, 1844, Cleveland, OH, p. 2, he was a Geauga County Delegate to a Whig political convention.
A church trial was described in the Anti-slavery Bugle,Friday, Jan 29, 1847, New Lisbon, OH, Vol: 2Page:3, of a M.E. Church member, Josiah Miller, in which Israel was a member of the jury. The topic was about a preachers' slavery comments, and how the member protested being dismissed without proper cause or trial.
"Painesville Telegraph" (newspaper), Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, 17 Mar 1870, p. 3: "Died, on Monday the 7th Inst. Mr. Israel Comstock, aged about seventy. He was one of the oldest and most respected citizens of LeRoy. Was a very industrious and active man. Only a few days before his death he drew the last of a large lot of wood for Asa Childs, Esq., of this city. Mr. Comstock was in town on Saturday, the 26th of February, in his usual health. But a severe attack of typhoid fever soon consumed his energies and terminated his life.

Warner to Nancy L. Comstock (one parcel) / 1874 Nancy L. (Comstock) Burton, Leonard Burton, & Eugene F. Comstock to George P. Davis..."
