Robert Ezra "Bob" Johnson, Sr., 93, of Shawnee, KS formerly of Mayetta, KS passed away August 4, 2009 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
He was born October 26, 1915 in Circleville, KS the son of Edgar Franklin and Anne Bell Anderson Johnson.
Bob graduated from Mayetta High School in 1935. He had worked for Davey Tree Company prior to serving in the United States Navy during WWII. After serving in the U.S. Navy he went back to work for Davey Tree Company.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Bob later attended Moler Barber College, graduating in 1955. He worked for Cliff's Barber Shop in Mission, KS, retiring in 1981. He has owned and operated a couple of farms near Soldier, KS since 1955. He was a member of the Merriam Christian Church in Merriam, KS, a member of the VFW Post #1367 in Holton, KS and a member of the Circleville Masonic Lodge.
Bob married Mabel Grace Hamilton on January 24, 1945 in Topeka, KS, she survives.
Other survivors include 2 daughters, Nancy Morris (Benjamin) of Tampa, FL and Gloria Walker of Overland Park, KS; 3 grandchildren, Aaron Morris (Jennifer), Lily Johnson and Chase Johnson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Johnson, Jr.; a grandson, Benjamin Robert Morris; 5 sisters, Effie Bowser, Abbie Landon, Clara Bowser, Pearl Mize and Marian Ray and 4 brothers, Walter, Lowell, Paul "Gene" and Amos Johnson.
