Husband of Elizabeth (Sheetz) Rallya (1843-1864). Married on March 23, 1861 in Decorah, Winneshiek County, Iowa. Son of David D. Rallya and Judith (Trace) Rallya. Father of Edward F. Rallya and Ellis Rallya. Civil War Veteran - 13th Iowa Infantry, Co. K. Member of the GAR. Ellis enlisted in the Civil War seven months after his wife and infant child died and he would die from "consumption" five months after returning from his service in the war. His son, Edward F. Rallya, would be almost two years old when he died.

His Civil War discharge papers list him as being 5' 6 and 1/4" tall, dark complexion, black hair and hazel eyes. Occupation is listed as "farmer."

Back of the headstone reads "Erected 1885 by Edward F. Rallya" Edward was the only living son of Ellis and Elizabeth Rallya.
