Born in Westerly, on Aug. 27, 1960, Elaine graduated from Westerly High School in 1978 and attended the University of Rhode Island. Previously, she was the collections manager for Boardson Collection Agency in Groton and in recent years was the office manager for Mystic Coastal Flooring in Stonington.
The daughter of the late Roland "Gus" and Elsie Parrilla of Westerly, Elaine is survived by her husband, John J. Chapman of Gales Ferry; a stepson, Thomas P. Chapman, also of Gales Ferry; her sisters and their husbands, Leah and Thomas Root of Beverly, Mass., and Carmela and Daniel Dyke of Orlando, Fla.; a brother and his wife, Roland and Tammy Parrilla of Pawcatuck; along with several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Gussie.
A service memorializing Elaine's life will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 6, with visitation beginning at 5 p.m. at the Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich. Interment will follow at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Sebastian Cemetery in Westerly. Family and friends are invited to join in Elaine's remembrance at the Calabrese Club in Westerly, immediately following the burial.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elaine's honor to Easter Seals Goodwill, 95 Hamilton St., New Haven CT 06511.
