Helen (Sztuka) Painchaud, 92, of Worcester, died Sunday, June 7, 2009 in Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 40 Julio Dr., Shrewsbury. Her husband, Uric E. Painchaud died in 1965.

She leaves two sons, Donald A. Painchaud and John P. Painchaud and two daughters, Jane M. Dyer and Patricia A. Swisher all of Worcester; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 6 great great-grandchildren and nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by all of her brothers and sisters, Stephen Stuka, Boleslaw, Stanley, John, Tadeus, Joseph and Walter Sztuka and Anna Aksten and Sophie Pogorzelski. She was born in Worcester, a daughter of Walter J. and Emilia (Klutka) Sztuka and lived here all her life.

Mrs. Painchaud worked as a heel padder 20 years for H.H. Brown Shoe Co. She retired many years ago. Helen was devoted to her family and her church. She was a member of St. Paul's Cathedral parish and its Marian Guild. She also volunteered with the parish Outreach Program and Bingo.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, June 11 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St, with a Mass at 10:30 am in St. Paul's Cathedral, 15 Chatham St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday, June 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
