DR. D.O. BEAL PNEUMONIA VICTIM
Dr. D. Oral. Beal, passed peacefully away at the star Valley Hospital this evening (Thursday) at 8:15 from pneumonia. Dr. Beal was at work last Sunday and felt fine, but was unable to go to work Monday. Wednesday evening Dr. Treloar was called in and it was found he had pneumonia. He seemed better this afternoon, but toward evening he got worse and was taken to the hospital, where he died at 8:15.
Dr. D.Oral Beal was born in Ephraim Utah in 1888, so would be 47 years of age. He was educated in the schools of Utah, and then attended medical school at Baltimore, Maryland where he graduated with high honors, when only 20 years of age.
He practiced in Idaho and Nevada and when world war broke out he went over to do his part. He was attached to the British Medical staff and gained some wonderful experience in surgery. He was wounded by a shrapnel and very little hope was held out for his recovery. For weeks he hovered between life and death. He finally rallied but one of his lungs was left in a weakened condition.
After the war he came to Afton and decided to locate here, which he did in 1921. During his 13 years practice in the valley he has done some wonderful surgical work, and has almost accomplished miracles in some instances.
He has made many friends here, who will be deeply grieved at his passing.
He leaves a wife and two children, Goldie Martha, and Nathan to carry on.
Funeral services will be held in the North ward chapel either Saturday or Sunday.
The body will then be taken to Ephraim, his old home for burial.
