Funeral services were held in Edgar Monday for Mrs. Lizzie Overturf, 80, longtime resident of the Edgar vicinity.
Surviving are two sons, Marvin of Angus and Max of Edgar; a daughter, Mrs. Blanche Dickau of Seward; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a brother, Howard Jordan of Kearney.

Obituary, Lizzie Jordan Overturf

Lizzie Jordan, daughter of John and Louisa Jordan, was born near Oskaloosa, Ia., Nov 19, 1877, and departed this life January 16, 1958, at the age of 80 years, 1 months and 28 days.

At an early age she came with her parents to a farm near Geneva, Neb.; and spent the remainder of her life in Fillmore and Clay Counties.

She was united in marriage on February 7, 1897 to Stormy L. Overturf. Five children were born to this union.

At an early age she was baptized into the Christian faith and joined the Methodist Church of Edgar, which she attended faithfully for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1954, and one daughter, Clara Patton, in 1953.

She is survived by four children: Maurice of Angus; Blanche Dickau of Seward; Marvin and Max of Edgar; one brother, Howard Jordan of Kearney, eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services with the Rev. John J. Lauer officiating, were held in the Edgar Methodist Church Monday afternoon, at two o'clock. Mrs. Don Gunn and Mrs. Harold Beck, with Mrs. Robert Mikkelsen at the organ, sang "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" and "Beyond the Sunset." The pallbearers were Jerry Peery, Bill Schlichtman, Bill Overturf, Craig Peery, John Klein, Eugene Peery, Lynn Patton and Jerry White.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the McGhie Funeral Home and interment was in the Edgar Cemetery.
