George W. "Ding" Young, 92, of Monticello, formerly of Seymour, died March 1, 1999 at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.

He was born April 17, 1906 in Bondville, s/o George & Iva Mitchell Young. He married Lola M. "Dodie" Bowman, April 16, 1926. She died Jan. 22, 1979.

Survivors include two sons: Donald of Seymour; and Thomas of Saybrook; two daughters: Barbara Jean Lemke, Champaign; and Martha Ann Welch, Monticello; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and two brothers: Maurice "Bill" Young of Monticello; and Everett Young of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and one sister.

Mr. Young was a former member of the Champaign-Urbana Elks Lodge of Savoy. He was retired after 50 plus years of farming.

Funeral services for George W. "Ding" Young, 92, of Monticello, formerly of Seymour, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, 215 E. Washington St., Monticello. The Rev. Steve Ingram will officiate.

Burial will be in Monticello Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation will be from 7 t o 8 p.m. today and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Young died at 4:05 p.m. Monday (March 1, 1999) at Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.

He was born April 17, 1906, at Bondville, a son of George and Iva Mitchell Young. He married Lola M. "Dodie" Bowman on April 16, 1926. She died Jan. 22, 1979.
