26 OTU'S Vickers Wellington III (#BK440) aircraft, with an aircrew of six, took off from RAF Wing on a cross-country training flight. After flying for about one hour and fifteen minutes in cloudy, freezing weather conditions, it is thought that there was a loss of control and structural failure which caused the Wellington to crash at high speed near Hindolveston in Norfolk, taking the lives of the entire crew.
The six airmen who perished in this accident were-
