On Thursday, the funeral of Miss Marie (Mary) Hannusch of Austin was held in Winchester. Pastor Albert F. Jesse from St. Paul's church in Austin officiated at the funeral.

Miss Marie Hannusch was born on March 10, 1878 in Germany, where she was also baptized. Her parents were George Hannusch and Anna, born Mattiza. As a three-year-old girl she came with her parents to Serbin, Texas, where she attended the Christian community school of teacher G. Kilian and H. Werner. She was confirmed by Pastor Kilian.

Later the family moved to Winchester, where they were members of St. Michael's Church. From there she then went to Austin where she found employment.

Shortly before Christmas, she injured her foot. Since it didn't want to heal, she sought medical advice, and found that she was seriously ill.

She passed away with faith in her Savior on Tuesday evening the 22th of March at the age of 71 years and 12 days.

She led a quiet Christian life and was a faithful member of her church. She performed many acts of love that are not generally known. The Church is firmly convinced that she is now up there with the Father in heaven.

Her departure is mourned by a sister, Mrs. C. G. Wukasch; two brothers, John and Paul Hannusch, Winchester. One brother died at a young age, and a sister, Mrs. Annie Schultz died about 20 years ago.

"Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from now on. Yes, said the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors and their works do follow them."

Note: There is conflicting information as to Anna's maiden name. Some records indicate Nowsch, whereas others indicate Noack or Matthiza.
