Samuel was the son of James W. Starr and an unknown biological Mother, Mary Ann Newman as named on his death certificate was his step-mother. He was the grandson of Lydia (Jackson) and William Starr.
Related family info: James W Starr had an Unknown 1st Spouse and their children were: Christopher "Pony" McClain Starr (1849 – 1941) - William Starr (1851 – ?) and Samuel Lafayette Starr (1855 – 1946). - - James W Starr married widow Mary Ann (Newman) Jones, Harrison County, Texas. Oct 1863. Mary Ann was born c1831 Tennessee and was the daughter of Rachel Jackson & Garrett Newman, and still with her parents in 1850 Tennesee census. Mary Ann's first husband was Andrew Jones, born 05 Nov 1819 in Wilmington, Clinton County, Ohio. He was the son of Nancy Starr and Thomas Jones. In the legal distribution of Garrett Newman's lands, Mary Ann is named as Mary Ann Jones.
Sam's father, James W. Starr and his wife's mother, Margaret Starr were brother and sister.
Sam's mother-in-law was also his Aunt Margaret (Starr) Boaze, & then Petty after death of her first husband Wyatt Boaze.
Liddie's father-in-law was also her Uncle James W. Starr.
Samuel Starr's descendants say his middle name was Lafayette, altho many times an F or T have been seen in censuses and even on the death certificate, Sam was husband of Liddie Angeline Boaze, buried at Center Cemetery also.
