Adeline Magaliff Suskind died peacefully at home on June 12, 2008 at the age of 99. She lived at North Shore Towers in Floral Park, NY. She was born in New York City on April 20, 1909, the last surviving of five siblings born to Eva and Harry Magaliff of New York City. Adeline was ahead of her time. She was the first woman to graduate from Hunter College in three years. After graduating she taught grammar school in Harlem and then throughout her 35 year career in schools for underprivileged children. She came from a musical family and was a fine pianist. Independent and adventurous, she traveled all over the world from her early twenties and throughout most of her life. She was the beloved wife of Herman Suskind who died in 1987. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Suskind Goldfarb, an Interior Designer, and her son-in-law Dr. Michael Goldfarb, Chief of Surgery at Monmouth Medical Center. Her two grandsons, Greg and Eric, are technology professionals living in the Bay Area of California with their wives. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends living in the New York and Boston areas. Adeline was entombed on June 13, 2008 at The Sanctuary at Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Glendale, NY. She will always be in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her name to the Jaqueline Wilentz Breast Center at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, NJ.
