Graveside services for Thelma Brown, 88, of Athens are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.

Ms. Brown passed away on December 15, 2023, in Malakoff.

Thelma Joe Brown was born November 7, 1935, in Brownsboro, Texas, the daughter of Alvin Sanders and Sarah (Boykin) Sanders. She graduated from Malakoff High School and worked for over 20 years as a seamstress for the Hollywood/Vassarette. She loved helping her neighbors and making floral arrangements for anyone in need. She will be missed greatly by all she knew and loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband J.D. Brown; two grandchildren, Brad Holcomb and Tami Holcomb and three sisters, Jimmi Dee Hendrix, Peggy Haynes, Faye McCool.

She is survived by her daughter Karen Taylor of Athens; her brother James Alvin Brown of Athens; numerous nieces and nephews.
