Ellen Faye McCool, age 77, of Athens passed away on January 6, 2022. She was born on January 22, 1944, in Athens, to Alvin Sanders and Sarah Ellen (Boykin) Sanders.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Lee McCool; infant daughter, Betty Ellen Wilkins, daughter, Dani Delain Prewitt; sisters, Dee Hendrix and Peggy Haynes.
Faye worked for many years at West Place Nursing Center in Athens, where she did many jobs. She had a huge heart for the residents. Always caring for their every need. This was a calling in her life, that she had great passion for. She was known by her friends and family to have a larger-than-life personality. Always full of spunk, wit and class, and had a love for fashion and dressed to the nines. She loved her bling and high heels. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children, Lari Smiley and husband Ricky, Peggy Culpepper, Jerry McCool and wife Sherri; grandchildren, Rodney Shellenberger, Robert Shellenberger, Rusty Shellenberger, Dancey McCool, Kolten McCool, Brandi Yarbrough, Bryan Smiley and Montana Prewitt; great grandchildren, Brooklynn, Kolt, Avery, Blakelynn, Lucchese, Aspen and Bristol; sister, Thelma Brown; brother, James Sanders; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Burial to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.
