William was the son of James A. Forgey and Rachel ____. His parents came from Scott Co., Virginia to Indiana, in the very early 1830s; they were residing in Jackson Co., Indiana in 1840, Jennings Co. in 1850, and Bartholomew Co., Indiana, in 1860. William married Mary Anna Postel Nov. 7, 1852, in Jackson Co., Indiana.

William Forgey's obituary in Indianapolis alleges he was born near Terre Haute, Indiana; this may be so, but the family was enumerated in Jennings Co., Indiana in 1840.

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind., Oct. 5—William Forgey, a well-known old soldier and pension agent, died this afternoon after several months' illness. He was sixty-three years old and a member of Company K, Fiftieth Indiana Volunteers. A wife and four children survive. Mr. Forgey was born near Terre Haute.
