FINAL RITES HELD LAST SATURDAY FOR LUTHER STOKES
Love has always been the key to the nobleness in mankind and we small creatures not knowing when the Bell Will Tole, must earn the respect of our fellow human beings each day. This is the way people remembered Luther Stokes whose death on Tuesday, December 1931, 1975, touched many and was funeralized on Satuday, January 3, 1976. at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. C. Van Rodgers, Sr. officiating. Burial was in Brownsville Cemetery under the direction of Miller Funeral Home. Mr. Stokes was stricken with an illness in September. Mr. Stokes was one of the most pleasing people and the echos of his memory will resound quietly not only in the Zion Travelers Baptist Church where he was an active member, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He had for man years be in the early 50s and late 40s played in Ben Burton's Band but in later years was an interior decorator.

Two great nieces:
Yolanda V. McHuley of Jackson, Mississippi

LUTHER STOKES PASSED EARLY TUESDAY MORNING
Luther Stokes, well-known churchman & businessman and a longtime resident of Monroe, died early Tuesday morning December 30, 1975 in the Columbia Heights Hospital after an illness.

Mr. Stokes played saxaphone for years in Ben Burton's Band in the late 40's & early 50s. Services are incomplete but will be at the First Baptist Church, Rev. C. Van Rodgers, Sr., will officiate from Miller's Funeral Home.
