Born Jimmie William Price, he made his initial impact on the baseball diamond during his years at Hershey High School in Pennsylvania. Drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1960, he was acquired by the Detroit Tigers and made his Major League debut on April 11, 1967. Price who served as a backup to Bill Freehan experienced a world championship with the Detroit Tigers in 1968, During the 1968 World Series, he appeared in 2 games against the St. Louis Cardinals. In 261 career regular season games, he compiled 129 hits with a .214 lifetime batting average. After retiring as a player, he went on to a lengthy career as an analyst for Detroit Tigers radio and TV broadcasts.
