Hall of Fame Sports Journalist. During the course of his career, he covered fifty-six Super Bowl games and Detroit-area sports teams with the Associated Press and the Detroit News. Born Jerome Frederic Green to a Jewish family, he attended prep school in Connecticut, prior to studying at Brown University. Following graduation, he began his career at the New York Journal-American, prior to serving with the United States Navy. Following his discharge, he moved on to the Associated Press and in 1963, he joined the writing staff at the Detroit News. During this period, he covered all four professional sports teams in Detroit and in 2005, he was honored by the Pro Football Hall of Fame as the recipient of the Dick McCann Memorial Award.
