Miss Myrtle Ashmead was born in Nevada, Mo., Nov. 16, 1887 and died at her home in Denver, March 24, 1916, at the age of 28 years, four months and nine days. In the year of 1890 the family moved to Langley. She being three years of age, and remained there until young womanhood, when at the age of 23 years she was married to Mr. Henry Redmond, of Council Grove.
For the past four years she has resided at Denver. She is survived by mother, three sisters, and three brothers. Mrs. Harve Forney, Langley, Mr. Chas. Ashmead, Norwalk, Cal., Mr. Riley Ashmead, Hutchinson, Mr. Henry Ashmead, Saina, Mrs. Geo. Swisher, Gypsum, Mrs. Geo. Reeves, Gypsum, and Mrs. Wm. Stites, of Sterling.
Brief services were held in Denver by Rev. G.E. MOrris of the Christian Church, March 30, Rev. S. F. Wilson, of the Wesleyan Church, preached the funeral sermon at Langley. The floral offerings were profuse. Interment in the Langley cemetery on Friday. [The Marquette Kansas Tribune, 6 Apr 1916, pg 6]
