John Henry Blankenship age 96 of Rover, passed away Friday, October 21, 2022 at Chambers Memorial Hospital.
John was born February 25, 1926 in Rover, Arkansas to the late William Sherman & Dovie Levona Gladden Blankenship. He was a member of the Rover Baptist Church, a Mason for over 50 years at the Plainview Masonic Lodge #641. He spent his working years in the log woods and owned Blankenship Logging Company. He was an avid hunter and after retirement he spent many years as a commercial fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Marie McConnell Blankenship and Doris Layes Blankenship; son, David Wayne Blankenship; son-in-law, Jimmy Don Fowler; brother, Joe Blankenship; sisters, Arlene Carpenter, Lucy Blankenship, Gracie Holloway and Gene Morrison.
Survivors are his children, Johnny Ray (Joyce) Blankenship of Rover; Janell Fowler of Rover; Debra (Billy) of Briggsville; daughter-in-law, Lisa Blankenship of Rover; brother, Roy Blankenship of Rover; sister, Ethel Reed of Rover; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the Rover Baptist Church with Bro Keith Shipley and Bro. Robert Harrison officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Blankenship Family Cemetery in Rover.
Pallbearers include Stephen Blankenship, Donnie Fowler, Jackie Fowler, Todd Blankenship, Jacob Lofland and Blake Reed.
Honorary pallbearers include Dr. John Westwood and staff and Joe Dishongh.
