I have listed the wordings of the tombstone exactly as the wording is set on the tombstone, punctuation, spelling, dates, etc.

MR
DAVID EVANS
died May 10, 1836
aged 38 years 3
mo 20 days

Much of the biography information came from the book
"History of Northfield, New Hampshire, 1780-1905" by Lucy Rogers Hill Cross. In more then one case I have found that the dates of death don't always match the date on the tombstone. The book lists David Evans death as April 3, 1836, a difference of nearly 6 weeks from what is on the tombstone.

Also from the same book, David Evans was one of six children of ROBERT EVANS and ELIZABETH CLOUGH.

RORERT EVANS, b. at Stratford March 3, 1775, came to N. about 1798 and bought the farm of John Brown on the sunrise side of Bean Hill.
He m. Elizabeth Clough of Strafford and had a family of six. He d. March 13. 1844. She d. Nov. 25, 1848.

DAVID EVANS, b. Jan. 20. 1798; m. Louisa Smith Dec. 6. 1825. (See Smith gen.) They lived for some years at the Ordway place on Bean Hill, where two dau. were born. They removed later to East N., where he d. April 3, 1836. Mrs. Evans later m. Sanborn Shaw of Salisbury and removed there. (See Shaw gen.)

LOUISA SMITH, b. in N., 1805; m., Dec. 6, 1825, David Evans of N., b. Jan. 20, 1798. (See Evans gen.)

This book lists Robert and Elizabeth Evans having a family of six, David Evans, who is buried very close to Mary, being one of them but only five names are listed in the book. Mary Evans tombstone clearly reads she was the daughter to Robert and Elizabeth Evans and I believe this to be true despite her the absence of the name of the sixth child from the book. If I am in error please let me know and I will make the correction.

I know of four tombstones in the five cemeteries located on or near Bean Hill Road that have dates that do not much what LRH Cross has in her book. I don't know what the town of Northfield has on official record but I plan to let them know of my findings.
