Charles was born in Stonefort on May 22, 1933, to the late William "Coy" Barnett and Lona M. Borum Barnett.
He married the former Fanny May Hodge on Oct. 23, 1953, and she survives.
Charles was a member of the Lamar Baptist Church in Arlington where he had served on the board of deacons, a veteran of the US Army and he retired as a purchasing agent for the BICC Cable Company in Paducah, Ky.
He is survived by his wife, Fanny of Arlington, Texas; son, Greg (Caroline) Barnett of Paducah, Ky.; son, Michael (Michelle) Barnett of Burleson, Texas; daughter, Kelly Denise (Bruce) Blair of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren, Kevin Blair, Bethany Blair, Zachary Barnett and Benjamin Barnett; sister, Shirley (Bill) Melven of Columbia, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Greta Lynn Barnett; grandson, Joshua Brooke Barnett; sisters, Maggie Yahne, Stella Pyle Hartford and Margie Josephine Stout.
Funeral services will be held at noon Sunday, March 15, 2015, at the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with his son Michael and close friend Ronald Dunn officiating.
