CARRIER MILLS -- Maggie Lee Yahne, 89, of Paducah, formerly of Carrier Mills, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, in Paducah.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills.

Memorials may be made to Superior Care Home Resident Council in Paducah.

Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is in charge of arrangements.

STONEFORT

Maggie (Barnett) Yahne was born in Stonefort on March 2, 1925, to William Coy Barnett and Lona Mae (Borum) Barnett. Maggie was blessed with family and siblings that included Stella (Barnett) Hartford, Margie Josephine (Barnett) Stout, William Charles Barnett and Shirley Ann (Barnett) Melven.

When Maggie was 17 she attended the Stonefort Reunion where when she got off the Ferris wheel she was told by Virgle Yahne that he was there to escort her home. Maggie agreed to the escort, and that began a loving relationship that brought them to marriage on Nov. 25, 1942, and lasted 66 years until his decease.

Maggie professed her faith in Christ at an early age at Stonefort Missionary Baptist Church. She spent the remainder of her life in faithful service to her God.

Surviving are a son, Dan (Louise) Yahne of Benton, Ky.; a granddaughter, Tonya (Richard) Shea; and a great-grandson, Daniel Shea, all of Benton, Ky. Also surviving are a brother, William Charles (Fanny) Barnett of Arlington, Texas, and Shirley (Bill) Melven of Columbia, S.C.

Graveside services for Maggie Yahne will be held at Salem Cemetery 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014. The Rev. Todd Dotson will officiate. Friends and family are asked to gather at the cemetery for the memorial service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Superior Care Home Resident Council, 3100 Clay Street, Paducah, Ky. 42001 or to Heartland Worship Center Forward Project, 4777 Alben Barkley Drive, Paducah, Ky. 42001.
