Delbert "Wayne" Bennett, 79, Newport, OH, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. Born in Pleasants County, WV, on May 19, 1941, he was a son of the late Truman Leroy and Ruby Barnhart Bennett. He was a self-employed truck driver and member of Dewy Avenue Church of Christ. Wayne was a U.S. Army Veteran serving to clean up after the Korean War. He loved spending time with his family, NASCAR, listening to music, and going to Myrtle Beach. He liked to watch dirt track racing, to junk, going to country music show, and auctions.



He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Mary Lou Rogers Bennett; two children, Donald (Vicki) Bennett, and Elizabeth (Tim) Westbrook; three grandchildren, Brent (Tonya) Bennett, Logan (Tayler) Bennett, and Devon (Sarah) Westbrook; three great-grandchildren, Heidi, Rylan, and Bryson; four step-children, Robert (Brenda) Garrett, Pat (Patty) Garrett, Charlene Lanham (Kenny Place), and Bradley (Jennifer) Reynolds; ten step-grandchildren, Samantha (Brian) Sturgeon, Breanna (Jesse) Garrett, Jessica Jones (Shane Mosser), Kylea Garrett, Michael (Kaitlyn) Garrett, Jacob (Ashley) Stewart, Tori (Dan) Stewart, and Selena, Colton, and Ethan Reynolds; 13 step-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Betty Daughtery, Eldora Francis, Norma (Jim) Stewart, Patti (Steve) Nichols, and Debbie (Tim) Barnhart; three brothers, Denzil (Evelyn) Bennett, Junior (Brenda) Bennett, and James Bennett (Shirley Hearn); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Mary Lou Grimes Bennett, and one great-grandson, Cory Bennett.
