Father Stanley was born in Wolka, Poland, the son of the late Frank and Helena (Kijak) Czarnota. He was ordained a Priest on December 22, 1956 in Lublin, Poland. He came to the United States and served in the U.S. Navy as a Chaplain for 9 years. After his service to our country, he came to the Diocese of Lansing, serving in many churches throughout the Diocese. He was especially proud of his Polish Ancestry and connected with many Polish families. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7237 of DeWitt and the Polish Legion of American Veterans-General C. Pulaski Post #8.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 2:00pm at St. Mary Cathedral, 219 Seymour Ave, Lansing, MI, with the Most Reverend Earl Boyea presiding. Rite of committal will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, 5:00-8:00pm at the Palmer Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Delta Chapel, 6020 W. Saginaw Hwy, Lansing, MI, 48917, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30PM. Visitation continues Wednesday, beginning at 1:00PM at the church.
