He was born February 15, 1940, in Donna, Texas, to the late Martina Cortez Santos and Demetrio Cortez.
Joventino served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a retired postal worker.
He volunteered with his church, taking communion to those who were homebound, as well as with the Veterans Affairs offices.
Joventino was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a dear friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Maria Teresa Cortez Gonzales, Elida Garza, Victorina C. Rosales and Otilla Cerda; brother, Conrado Cortez; and son-in-law, Ramon Caballero.
He is survived by his wife, Shan-Chih C. Cortez; children, Michelle Cortez, Lisa Aguirre and her husband, Eric, and Maria Caballero; grandchildren, Connor Cortez and April Caballero; sisters, Elidia C. Robles and her husband, Genaro, and Elisa Polanco; brothers, Febronio Cortez and his wife, Elena, and Reyes Cortez and his wife, Alicia.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 30, at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3050 Alta Drive, Las Vegas.
Burial following at Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
