Master Sgt. William Ray Dalton was born and raised in Grainger County, Tennessee. The son of James Walter Dalton and Maude Lou Dalton, he had two siblings: Landon Nelson (L.N.) Dalton and Barbara Dalton Livesay. He married Edna Seal of Morristown on February 1, 1958. Ray and Edna raised their two daughters, Janet Denise and Sharon Jo (Sheri) in Morristown. Ray worked for American Enka as a blacksmith until being employed with NCR where he retired. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and retired from the US Air Force reserves (139th Air Refueling Group). Ray was known for growing beautiful hybrid tea roses. He passed away at his daughter Janet's home on September 16th, 2008 after a lengthy illness. Edna passed away at Heritage Nursing Center in January 2013. Both are buried side by side in the Garden of Gethsemane section of Hamblen Memory Gardens.
