Velda Grant, 68, formerly of New Harmony, Utah passed away peacefully at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah Wednesday, July 15, 2020 after an ongoing battle with her health. Velda was born June 20, 1952 to Vada Prince and Sheldon B Grant in the old hospital that was later replaced by Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City. She went to school in Cedar City, Utah since the New Harmony 2 room schoolhouse, 1-8 grades, had burned to the ground in 1957 and attended grades 1-12. Graduating from SUU with a Bachelor Degree in homemaking she had many skills put well to use through her life. She was called to a mission in Tennessee and learned to love the area and people. She loved working at the Yarn Mart and was eventually made manager and learned more skills. Her degree not being used to full advantage she applied to University of Utah and spent the rest of her life working as a nursery school teacher to children from countries the world over and learned to answer to "Mama" and calm tears in many languages. She was planning to retire and return to live in New harmony but fate intervened. She has returned to her home place now to await the light from the East.
