William Orville “Bill” Caldwell, Jr., 78, of Longs, SC, passed away on Wednesday, August 24th, 2016 at his home.

Bill was born in Clyde, NC, to parents Jean Caldwell Jones and William Orville Caldwell, now deceased. He was also predeceased by a brother, Jerry Dean Caldwell of Highpoint, NC.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Samantha Tappenbeck of Kalispell, Montana, and Abbey Caldwell of West Hollywood, California; one brother, James Daniel “Dan” Caldwell of Charlotte, NC; four nieces and one nephew; and his dog, Sadie Mae. He was anxiously awaiting his first grandchild, due in November.

Bill was a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served his country overseas during the Vietnam War (“Semper Fi”). After being honorably discharged, he graduated from North Carolina State University, and went on to become a top salesman at PPG Industries, where he worked for over 32 years. Bill was a proud father, loyal brother and great friend, who was his happiest 35 miles offshore with a rod and reel in-hand. The only ones who won’t miss Bill are the fish. Services will be held at a later date.
